King Solomon's Mines was a 1985 film loosely based on the novel King Solomon's Mines (1885) by H. Rider Haggard. It starred Richard Chamberlain, Sharon Stone, Herbert Lom and John Rhys-Davies. It was adapted by Gene Quintano and James R. Silke and directed by J. Lee Thompson. This version of the story was a light, comedic take, deliberately referencing and parodying Indiana Jones.

Judge Dredd is a 1995 action film by director Danny Cannon based on the Judge Dredd strip in the British comic 2000 AD.
Certain elements of the film were altered from the comic series, but it still did not find wide mainstream appeal. From the beginning the film was intended to receive a PG-13 rating. Due to excessive violence the MPAA refused to downgrade the initial R rating despite repeated appeals by the studio and Stallone. Mostly because of schedule constraints the film could not be re-cut and was released with an R rating.

A group of Police Academy graduates are sent to train a group of newly recruited civilian officers. The original Police Academy cast reprise their roles in the film. Capt. Harris, not seen since the first installment, returns as the film's nemesis. In Police Academy 2 and 3, Capt. Mauser (played by Art Metrano) filled that role, but Metrano was severely injured in a fall after filming number 3, and asked to be replaced for the remainder of the series.

When police funding is cut, Governor Neilson announces that one of the city's two police academies will have to be closed down. To make it fair, Neilson announces a competition to determine which academy will stay opened. Commandant Eric Lassard calls back some of his former students to train the new batch of students, hoping to get the edge on the rival academy, which is run by Commandant Mauser.

Racing Stripes is a 2005 adventure/comedy movie, directed by Frederik Du Chau. It is similar in the style to the 1995 movie Babe, in that the protagonist is a talking animal who lives on a farm and succeeds at an activity not expected of his species. The movie was filmed in Pietermaritzburg and Nottingham Road, South Africa.

In a rush to pack up during a thunderstorm, the Circus Sorano (a traveling circus) accidentally leaves behind a baby zebra. The foal is rescued by Nolan Walsh, a retired thoroughbred-racehorse trainer. Nolan takes the zebra home to his farm, and leaves it in the care of his daughter Channing, who names him "Stripes".

Carmen Cortez and Juni Cortez have become agents of the OSS and face particularly hard competition with Gary (Matt O'Leary) and Gerti Giggles (Emily Osment), the children of double-dealing agent Donnagon Giggles (Mike Judge), whom Carmen and Juni helped to rescue in the previous film. Donnagon wants to steal the "transmooker", a device that can shut off all electronic devices, so he can take control of the world. Carmen and Juni follow the trail to a mysterious island, which is home to Romero (Steve Buscemi), a lunatic scientist. Romero has been attempting to create genetically-miniaturized animals, but has instead ended up with mutated "monsters" populating the island. After a number of action sequences, the spy kids (with the help of their family, Romero and Gerti Giggles) destroy the transmooker and defeat Donnagon, who is then fired by the president. Juni quits afterwards due to the impersonal treatment of agents by the OSS.

It concerns a team that has to drill to the center of the Earth and set off a series of nuclear explosions in order to restart the rotation of Earth's core. Keyes deduces that the people who died had one thing in common - they had Artificial Pacemakers. He initially believes the cause to be an electromagnetic pulse.

Waterworld is a 1995 post-apocalyptic science fiction film. The film stars Kevin Costner who also produced it. Waterworld was released in the United States on July 28, 1995.
Problems encountered during filming led to massive budget overrun, and it held the dubious distinction of being the most expensive film ever made at the time. Some critics dubbed it "Fishtar" and "Kevin's Gate" (references to the notorious flops Ishtar and Heaven's Gate). With a budget of $175 million, the film grossed $88 million at the U.S. box office, but topped its budget once overseas take was taken into account (grossing $176 million in foreign markets). However, for a film to be considered a box office success it generally needs to make three times its production budget back, or more than twice its budget just to break even, as theatres take almost half of a film's gross takings and to recoup marketing and distribution costs which are usually not factored into the production budget. This meant that Universal failed to make back their initial investment in the film.

The film follows D'Leh (Steven Strait), a young mammoth hunter from the Yagahl tribe during the middle stone age (Mesolithic period). It is shown first that, when D'Leh was young, two events happened. First, the mysterious arrival of Evolet (Camilla Belle), a young girl with bright blue eyes who prompts a prophecy from the wise old woman of the tribe, Old Mother (Mona Hammond). The film opens in the Forbidden City in 1887, where Chon Lin (Fann Wong) is drinking tea with her father, the Keeper of the Imperial Seal of China. She tells him her brother, Chon Wang (Jackie Chan), is doing well as a sheriff in Carson City, Nevada, United States, but her father replies that he no longer has a son. At that moment, Lord Nelson Rathbone (Aidan Gillen), leads a band of Boxers into the city, who attack the Keeper. Lin defends her father, but is knocked unconscious. Rathbone kills him with a snake-handled dagger, and leaves with the seal. As he lies dying, he gives Lin a puzzle box and a letter to Chon.

Shanghai Noon is a 2000 action-adventure-comedy-western film starring Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson. Directed by Tom Dey, it was written by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. The movie, set in Nevada and other parts of the west in the 19th century, is a juxtaposition of a western with a Jackie Chan Kung Fu action movie with extended martial arts sequences. It also has elements of comedy and the "Buddy Cop" film genre, as it involves two men of different personalities and ethnicities (a Chinese imperial guard and a Western outlaw) who team up to stop a crime.
The title (a pun on the Gary Cooper classic High Noon) and several names used in the film pay homage to earlier westerns. Chan's character, "Chon Wang" is meant to sound like John Wayne, and the antagonist, Nathan Van Cleef, is an homage to Lee Van Cleef, who played "the Bad" in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, among other roles in major westerns. In addition, Roy O'Bannon (Owen Wilson's character) reveals at the end that his real name is Wyatt Earp, which Chon laughingly dismisses as "a terrible cowboy name".

A sequel, Shanghai Knights, was released in 2003.

The film is set ten years after the Battle of Naboo, when the galaxy is on the brink of civil war. When an assassination attempt is made on Senator Padmé Amidala, the former Queen of Naboo, 19-year-old Jedi apprentice Anakin Skywalker is assigned to protect her, while his mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi is assigned to investigate the assassination attempt. Soon, Anakin, Padmé, and Obi-Wan are drawn into the heart of the Separatist territories, and the beginning of a new threat to the galaxy, the Clone Wars.
Released on May 16, 2002, Attack of the Clones received mixed reviews by critics. It was the first motion picture to be shot completely on a high definition digital 24-frame system, and the first Star Wars film to be internationally out-grossed in the year of its original release. Spider-Man, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets all had higher receipts.

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace is a 1999 space opera film written and directed by George Lucas. It was the fourth film to be released in the Star Wars saga, and the first in terms of internal chronology. The film follows two Jedi Knights, played by Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor, who flee the planet Naboo with the planet's queen in the hope of finding a peaceful end to a trade dispute. Along the way, the ship must stop for repairs on the planet Tatooine, where the Jedi encounter Anakin Skywalker (Jake Lloyd), a young slave boy who is unusually strong with the Force. When the group returns to Naboo, they realize that the situation is much worse than they thought—the Sith have returned.
The release of the film on May 19, 1999 came almost sixteen years after the previous film in the series, Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. Lucas began production when he felt special effects had advanced to the level of what he had envisioned for the film. Shooting took place during 1997 at various locations including Leavesden Studios and the Tunisian desert. The release was accompanied by extensive media coverage and great anticipation. Despite mixed reviews by critics, it grossed US$924.3 million worldwide, making it the highest grossing Star Wars film in the series (fourth when adjusted for inflation).

Around the World in 80 Days is a 2004 comedy/adventure film based on Jules Verne's novel, Around the World in 80 Days. It stars Jackie Chan, Steve Coogan and Cecile de France.
The film' is set in 19th century England and centers on Phileas Fogg (Steve Coogan), here reimagined as an eccentric inventor, and his efforts to circumnavigate the globe in 80 days. During the trip he is accompanied by his Chinese valet Passepartout (Jackie Chan). For comedic reasons, the film intentionally deviated wildly from the novel and included a number of anachronistic elements.
Despite boasting of several big stars and containing many celebrity cameos, the film was a box office bomb and ended up generating a huge loss for the studio.

Kangaroo Jack is a 2003 buddy-action movie produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, starring Jerry O'Connell, Anthony Anderson, Christopher Walken and Estella Warren. An animated children's feature, titled Kangaroo Jack: G'Day U.S.A.! was produced and released on video in 2004.

The main characters are entrusted with a large sum of money by a mobster named Salvatore Maggio (Christopher Walken). They travel to Australia where they are meant to deliver the money to a man called Mr. Smith. They become sidetracked when they drive into a kangaroo on the road. The kangaroo (nicknamed Jackie Legs) does regain consciousness, but only after they have put the money-containing-sweater on it. The film then follows their attempts to retrieve this $50,000. This story is similar to an enduring urban legend involving an American losing his wallet in a similar way.

Jurassic Park III is a 2001 film that is the third film of the Jurassic Park film series. Jurassic Park III is the sequel to The Lost World: Jurassic Park, and is the first in the series that is neither based on a book by Michael Crichton nor directed by Steven Spielberg. It takes place on Isla Sorna, the island from the second film, after a couple hires Dr. Grant to help them find their son.
After the success of the first Jurassic Park, Joe Johnston asked Steven Spielberg if he could direct the film adaptation of The Lost World, the sequel to Jurassic Park. While Spielberg wanted to do the project, he promised to give the helm of the second sequel to Johnston. Three years after the release of The Lost World, production of a third film began in late August of 2000.

Jurassic Park is a 1993 science fiction film directed by Steven Spielberg, based on the novel of the same name by Michael Crichton. The film centers on the island of Isla Nublar, where scientists have created an amusement park of cloned dinosaurs. John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) invites a group of scientists, played by Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum and Laura Dern, to visit the park. Sabotage sets the dinosaurs on the loose, and technicians and visitors attempt to escape the island.
Development of the film began before the novel was even published, and Crichton was hired to contribute to a script that cut much of its story. Spielberg hired Stan Winston Studios's puppets and worked with Industrial Light and Magic to develop cutting-edge computer-generated imagery to portray the dinosaurs. Jurassic Park received positive reviews from critics, who praised the special effects, but found the film mediocre in other aspects. During its release, the film grossed more than $914 million, becoming the most successful film yet released, and it is currently the tenth-highest grossing feature film, significantly inspiring a new breed of films that primarily used CGI for special effects. Jurassic Park was the first film in the Jurassic Park franchise, followed by The Lost World: Jurassic Park in 1997 and by Jurassic Park III in 2001, with Jurassic Park IV in development.

Back to the Future Part III is the third and final installment of the Back to the Future trilogy. The film is a science fiction western, using the time travel premise of the series to take Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) and Dr. Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd) back to the Old West of 1885.

The film opens by replaying the conclusion of Back to the Future Part II. Marty is stranded in 1955, but has received a seventy-year-old letter from Doc Brown. In the letter, Doc explains that he is trapped in 1885 as the technology required to repair the De Lorean was invented in 1947. The letter tells Marty where the De Lorean is, but gives him explicit instructions to not attempt a rescue. Instead, he is told to immediately return to 1985 and destroy the time machine in order to prevent further disruption of the space-time continuum.

Back to the Future Part II is a 1989 film and the first sequel to the 1985 film Back to the Future. Like the previous film, it was directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Zemeckis and Bob Gale. Part II and the third installment of the trilogy, Back to the Future Part III, were filmed back-to-back and released six months apart. Although released in 1989 and 1990, both films continued to portray 1985 as the present.
Part II follows the continued adventures of Marty McFly and "Doc" Emmett Brown as they use their time-traveling De Lorean, which is now capable of flight, to travel to a retro-futuristic version of 2015, an alternate 1985 and the principal setting of the first film in 1955. The film ends with a cliffhanger that is resolved in Part III.

Back to the Future is a 1985 science fiction–comedy film directed by Robert Zemeckis and produced by Steven Spielberg. Zemeckis wrote the story, along with Bob Gale. It stars Michael J. Fox as teenager Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd as mad scientist Dr. Emmett L. Brown.
The film's basic storyline involves the premise of time travel being used to breach the generation gap. In a De Lorean time machine invented by Dr. Brown, Marty accidentally travels back to the year 1955 when his parents were teenagers. Having interfered with their first meeting, Marty must ensure that his young parents fall in love so that he will be born. Furthermore, the Dr. Brown of 1955 must find a way to return Marty to 1985 without the plutonium necessary to fuel the journey.
The film opened on July 3, 1985, and grossed U.S. $210 million at the U.S. box office, making it the highest grossing film of 1985. The film was followed by two sequels, Back to the Future Part II in 1989 and Back to the Future Part III in 1990, forming a trilogy. On December 17, 2002, Universal Studios Home Entertainment released the film on DVD and VHS as part of Back to the Future: The Complete Trilogy

Romancing the Stone is an American 1984 action-adventure film. It also has many elements that might categorize it as a romantic comedy. Directed by Robert Zemeckis, it stars Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito.
The movie was a respectable hit and earned over USD$114 million worldwide in box-office receipts and $36 million in video rentals. This film also helped launch Turner to stardom, reintroduced Douglas to the public as a capable leading man, and gave Zemeckis his first box office success.

The plot of the movie revolves around romance writer Joan Wilder, played by Kathleen Turner, who travels to Colombia to find her kidnapped sister. In time she falls in love with a soldier of fortune and the two become romantically involved as they search for a precious stone which the kidnappers want.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is a Anglo-American 2007 fantasy adventure film, based on the novel of the same name, by J. K. Rowling. It was directed by David Yates, produced by David Heyman's company Heyday Films, and the screenplay was written by Michael Goldenberg. It is the fifth film in the Harry Potter film series. It follows Harry Potter in his fifth year at the magic school Hogwarts. The Ministry of Magic refuses to believe the return of Lord Voldemort and appoints bureaucrat Dolores Umbridge as a teacher at the school. She slowly becomes an authoritarian figure in the school.
Live-action filming started in February 2006 and finished at the end of November. Post-production on the film continued for several months afterwards. Warner Bros., the distributor of the film, released it in the UK on 12 July 2007, and in the U.S. on 11 July, both in conventional and IMAX theatres.
It was the sixth-highest grossing film of all time, and a critical and commercial success, acclaimed by Rowling, who has consistently offered praise for the film adaptations of her work, as "the best one yet".

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is a 2005 fantasy adventure film, based on J. K. Rowling's novel of the same name, and is the fourth film in the popular Harry Potter film series.
Directed by Mike Newell, the film concerns Harry Potter's fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Hogwarts has been selected to hold the recently returning wizard competition known as the Triwizard Tournament. Though Harry does not apply, the Goblet of Fire mysteriously selects him as a second representative of Hogwarts in the tournament.
Three days after its release, the film had grossed over US$102 million at the North American box office, the highest first-weekend tally for a Harry Potter film, and enjoyed an immensely successful run at the box office, earning over $896 million worldwide, making it the highest grossing film of 2005 and the 8th-highest grossing film of all time. It was the third highest grossing film in the U.S. for 2005 making $290 million. It is currently the 11th highest-grossing film of all time. The DVD went on to become the fastest selling DVD of all time. It is currently the third-highest grossing Harry Potter film, behind Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Art Direction, but lost to Memoirs of a Geisha.

National Treasure: Book of Secrets is the 2007 sequel to the 2004 film National Treasure. It was directed by Jon Turteltaub and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.
It was stated in the first film's commentary that there were no plans for a sequel, but due to the first film's impressive box-office performance, earning $347.5 million worldwide, a sequel was given the go-ahead in 2005. After 38 days of release, the sequel out-grossed the original with $429.2 million being earned worldwide.
The Motion Picture Association of America rated the film PG for some violence and action. The film premiered in New York City on December 13, 2007 and was released in the Middle East, Korea, and Taiwan on December 19, 2007. It was released in Australia on December 20, 2007. The film opened in the United States, Canada, Japan, Spain, and Italy on December 21, 2007. It was released in Germany on January 24, 2008. It stars Nicolas Cage, Diane Kruger, Justin Bartha, Sean Bean, Jon Voight, Harvey Keitel and Christopher Plummer. It is an adventure movie set in the USA about a search for lost treasure, involving stealing the Declaration of Independence, which leads to a trail of clues and a back-story intertwined with the Knights Templar and the Freemasons.

The story centers around Benjamin Franklin Gates, whose family believes in the legend of a fantastic treasure trove of artifacts and gold, hidden by the Founding Fathers of the United States, and forgotten to all but a few. The first clue was given to Ben's great-great grandfather Thomas Gates by Charles Carroll, the last living signer of the Declaration of Independence, saying simply, "The secret lies with Charlotte".
Using sophisticated computer arctic weather models, Ben, with his friend Riley Poole and financier Ian Howe, finds the wreckage of a Colonial ship, the Charlotte, containing a Meerschaum pipe engraved with a riddle. After examining the riddle, Ben deduces that the next clue is on the back of the Declaration of Independence. While Ben sees gaining access to such a highly guarded artifact as an obstacle, Ian finds no problem in stealing it. In the standoff, Ian escapes and the Charlotte explodes with Ben and Riley inside, nearly killing them.

Sahara is a 2005 action/adventure film, directed by Breck Eisner, based on the best-selling book of the same name by Clive Cussler.
Though it opened at #1, grossing $18 million on its first weekend, Sahara is considered one of the biggest financial flops in Hollywood history. From the financial perspective, Sahara was unusual because it performed reasonably well, generating $122 million in gross box-office sales.However, the movie was beset by high costs, including a $160-million production and $81.1 million in distribution expenses. The film lost approximately $105 million according to a financial executive assigned to the movie; however Hollywood accounting methods assign losses at $78.3 million, taking into account projected revenue. According to Hollywood accounting, the film drew in revenue of $202.9 million against expenses of $281.2 million.
The Los Angeles Times presented an extensive special report on April 15, 2007 dissecting the budget of Sahara as an example of how Hollywood movies can cost so much to produce and fail; many of the often closely held documents had become public domain due to a lawsuit involving the film.

Fool's Gold is an 2008 adventure/romance film about a married couple who rekindle their romantic life while searching for a lost treasure. The film was directed by Andy Tennant and reunites the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days stars Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson. The MPAA rated the film PG-13 for action violence, some sexual material, brief nudity and language.

Warner Bros. and director Andy Tennant planned to shoot the film in the Caribbean, but decided on Queensland because the hurricane season in the Caribbean was likely to stall production of the film. The Key West scenes were filmed in Port Douglas. Filming also took place in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Hamilton Island, Lizard Island, Airlie Beach, and Hervey Bay. Scenes were also filmed at Batt Reef, where Steve Irwin died from a stingray barb in 2006.
Inside scenes were shot on a sound stage at the Warner Bros studio facility and the actors and crew stayed in luxury homes and apartments on the Gold Coast. McConaughey mentioned having a python in the backyard of his house in Port Douglas. McConaughey said, "There were other days like the day we went out diving and swam with a dugong, which was very cool."

When Dr. Henry Jones Sr. (played by Connery) vanishes while pursuing a life-long search for the Holy Grail, Indiana must retrace his father's steps in the hopes of rescuing him – and the Grail – from the clutches of the Nazi military machine. Worldwide, the film was the highest grossing movie of 1989.

In 1912, boy scout Indiana Jones steals the Cross of Coronado, an ornamental cross belonging to Francisco Vásquez de Coronado, from grave robbers, believing it should be in a museum instead of a private collection, in the process using a whip, scarring his chin, and gaining his fear of snakes. Although he rescues the cross, the robbers tell the police that Indiana was the thief, and he is forced to return it, while his oblivious father, Henry Jones, is working on his research. One of the robbers, dressed very similarly to the future Indiana, gives him a fedora with some encouraging words. In 1938, an adult Indiana is on the robbers' ship, the Coronado, off the Portuguese coast, finally retrieving the Cross and donating it to Marcus Brody's museum.

Raiders of the Lost Ark, also known as Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, is a 1981 adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg, produced by George Lucas and starring Harrison Ford. It is the first in the Indiana Jones film and television series, and the twenty-fourth in internal chronology. In the film, the Nazis are searching for the lost Ark of the Covenant to make their army invincible, as it did for the Israelites of the Old Testament, and it is up to archaeologist and adventurer Indiana Jones to find it first.
When released on June 12, 1981, the $20 million (USD) film was a huge success, easily the highest grossing film of 1981, earning $384 million worldwide, and, at the time, one of the highest-grossing movies ever made. It was nominated for eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture, in 1982 and won four (Best Sound, Best Film Editing, Best Visual Effects, Best Art Direction-Set Decoration). The film was a hit with audiences and critics alike leading to two more films, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles television series, and a fourth film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, in production for release in 2008.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is a 1984 adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg. Released on May 23, 1984, it is a prequel to the 1981 film Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Like Raiders, it starred Harrison Ford as Jones, and was based on an original story by George Lucas. Many members of the original crew returned, including cinematographer Douglas Slocombe, editor Michael Kahn and composer John Williams. New additions to the main cast included actress Kate Capshaw, who played the role of Wilhelmina 'Willie' Scott (Jones' second female lead following Karen Allen as Marion Ravenwood, in Raiders of the Lost Ark), and Jonathan Ke Quan as Jones' 11 year old sidekick Short Round. It won an Academy Award for Visual Effects.
Featuring themes of child slavery, and destructive cult rituals, the film is darker in tone than its predecessor. The original story was intended to be a horror movie as well as a remake with elements of Gunga Din (1939). The original title was Indiana Jones and the Temple of Death.
The film is also notable for the creation of the rating category PG-13.

The Mummy Returns is a 2001 American movie starring Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, Oded Fehr and Arnold Vosloo, and is directed by Stephen Sommers. It is a sequel to the 1999 movie The Mummy, and is set 8 years later, in 1933. Filming took place in London, Morocco and Jordan.
The Mummy Returns also had a 2002 spin-off The Scorpion King, which is set 5000 years prior and focuses on The Scorpion King, who is introduced in The Mummy Returns.
The movie begins before the gates of the ancient Egyptian city of Thebes in 3067 BC as a warrior known only as the Scorpion King leads his army against the defenders on his road to conquest. The Scorpion King loses a decisive battle and is forced to retreat into the desert with what is left of his army. As his soldiers die one by one from the desert's heat, only the Scorpion King is left alive. Swearing an oath to the god Anubis, the Scorpion King's soul is exchanged for his life and the power to defeat his enemies. Almost immediately, a great oasis called Ahm Shere is formed around him, and he returns to Thebes with the jackal-headed Army of Anubis to exact his revenge. When he completes his conquest, his soul is taken by Anubis. Exactly 5000 years in the future, in 1933, we rejoin the O'Connells nine years after their previous adventure.

The Mummy is a 1999 American film written and directed by Stephen Sommers, starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, with Arnold Vosloo in the title role as the reanimated mummy. The movie features substantial dialogue in ancient Egyptian language, spoken with the assistance of a professional Egyptologist. It is a loose remake of The Mummy (1932), which starred Boris Karloff in the role. Originally intended to be part of a low-budget horror franchise, the movie eventually transformed into a blockbuster adventure film.
The film opened on May 7, 1999 and grossed a total of $43 million in 3,210 theaters; the film went on to gross a total of $415 million worldwide. Reception to the film was mixed, with reviewers alternatively praising the slapstick nature of the story and characters and decrying the stereotyped villains. The box-office success led to a 2001 film sequel, The Mummy Returns, as well as The Mummy: The Animated Series, and the spin-off film The Scorpion King. Another sequel, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, will open on August 1, 2008. Universal Studios opened a roller coaster, Revenge of the Mummy, in 2004. The movie and its sequel were novelized by Max Allan Collins.

Mad Max 2 (also known as The Road Warrior in the U.S.) is a 1981 post-apocalyptic science fiction action film. Directed by Australian doctor-turned-director George Miller, this sequel to Miller's 1979 film Mad Max, Mad Max 2 was a worldwide box office hit that launched the lead actor Mel Gibson's career. The film's tale of a community of settlers that have to defend themselves from a roving band of marauders is an archetypal "Western" frontier movie motif, as is Max's role as a hardened man who rediscovers his humanity when he decides to help the settlers.
Noteworthy elements of the film include cinematographer Dean Semler's widescreen photography of Australia's vast desert landscapes; the sparing use of dialogue throughout the film, which is almost non-existent during the opening and closing scenes; costume designer Norma Moriceau's punk mohawked, leather bondage gear-clad bikers; and its fast-paced, tightly-edited, and violent battle and chase scenes.

Mad Max is an Australian apocalyptic action thriller film from 1979 directed by George Miller and written by Miller and Byron Kennedy. The film, which starred the then little-known Mel Gibson was released internationally in 1980.
This low-budget film's story of social breakdown, murder, and vengeance turned out to be a box office hit; for decades it had the highest profit-to-cost ratio of any motion picture (cost $400,000, profit in excess on $100,000,000) only losing the record 20 years later in 1999 to The Blair Witch Project. The movie was also notable for being the first Australian film to be shot with a widescreen anamorphic lens.
It was followed by two sequels, Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior and Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome.

The Pokémon anime series and films are a meta-series of adventures separate from the canon that most of the Pokémon video games follow (with the exception of Pokémon Yellow, a game based on the anime storyline). The anime follows the quest of the main character, Ash Ketchum (known as Satoshi in Japan) a Pokémon Master in training, as he and a small group of friends travel around the fictitious world of Pokémon along with their Pokémon partners.
The original series, titled Pocket Monsters, or simply Pokémon in western countries (often referred to as Pokémon: Gotta Catch 'Em All to distinguish it from the later series), begins with Ash's first day as a Pokémon trainer. His first (and signature) Pokémon is a Pikachu, differing from the games, where only Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle could be chosen. The series follows the storyline of the original games, Pokémon Red and Blue, in the region of Kanto. Accompanying Ash on his journeys are Brock, the Pewter City Gym Leader, and Misty, the youngest of the Gym Leader sisters from Cerulean City.

Jenna Rink, a girl celebrating her thirteenth birthday in 1987, wishes to be thirty years old in the hope that it would cause her to overcome her unpopularity at school. Jenna especially wants to join the "Six Chicks", a clique at her school led by Lucy "Tom-Tom" Wyman, who takes advantage of Jenna's desire to fit in by manipulating her. Jenna's best friend, Matt Flamhaff, gives her as birthday presents a doll dream house he built for her and a packet of "magic wishing dust".
Tom-Tom dashes Jenna's hopes of joining the Six Chicks by pulling a cruel practical joke on her during a game of "seven minutes in heaven". Jenna, mistakingly thinking Matt was responsible, gets angry with him and wishes to be "thirty, flirty and thriving," unknowingly sprinkled with her doll house's magic wishing dust. Seconds later, Jenna awakens as a thirty-year-old woman living in a Fifth Avenue apartment, without her friends or family. It is now the year 2004, but Jenna has no memory of the seventeen years that have passed since her thirteenth birthday
30-year-old Jenna's best friend Lucy -- no longer nicknamed Tom-Tom -- drives her to her work office. Soon, Jenna realizes that she works for "Poise", her favorite fashion magazine in 1987. Without her best friend from 1987, Jenna asks her secretary to track down Matt. Jenna discovers that they have been estranged since high school when Jenna fell in with the in-crowd, and that Matt is now engaged.
This is only complicated by the fact that Jenna has become a shadow of her former self - not only is she generally despised by all she comes into contact with, it is also suspected she was giving ideas from her work to a rival magazine, Sparkle. Jenna slowly realizes that the person she has become is neither trustworthy nor likeable, and unknowingly begins to reverse the situation by distancing herself from her new, shallow boyfriend, acting kinder and more honest to her coworkers and friends, and trying to restore her and Matt's relationship.

Harry Potter 2

While home with the Dursleys (who had taken away all his school books, broom, and wand) for the summer, Harry Potter is upset he has not yet received any mail from his friends Ron, Hermione and Hagrid. On his twelfth birthday (July 31), Harry is visited by Dobby, a house-elf, who warns Harry that he will be in mortal danger if he returns to Hogwarts. Harry ignores Dobby's dire warning and is determined to return. Dobby reveals he has been collecting Harry's letters to make it seem as though his friends had forgotten him, hoping Harry might then not want to return to Hogwarts. Since he will have to use force to change Harry's mind, Dobby decides to use a charm to destroy a pudding that Aunt Petunia has made for an important dinner party attended by Uncle Vernon's potential client and the client's wife. Harry is blamed by the Ministry of Magic for Dobby's charm and is told that if he does magic outside school again, he will be expelled. On learning that Harry cannot perform magic outside school, the Dursleys, previously fearful of his magic, lock Harry in his room as a prisoner, even fitting bars onto the bedroom window.
A few days later, Fred, George and Ron Weasley come to Harry's rescue in their father's enchanted Ford Anglia. After a few weeks at the Burrow, the Weasleys and Harry go to Diagon Alley, traveling by Floo Powder. Harry accidentally gets sent to Knockturn Alley in a store that Draco Malfoy (Harry's worst enemy) and his father, Lucius are visiting. Harry, (with the help of Hagrid) gets back to Diagon Alley and finds the Weasleys. While at Flourish and Blotts Harry yet again runs into Lucius Malfoy (who gets into a fight with Mr. Weasley). After a pleasant month together in the Weasley house, everyone heads to Platform 9¾ at King's Cross Station to take the Hogwarts Express back to school. To their shock, Harry and Ron are unable to enter the barrier between platforms 9 and 10. In desperation, they fly to Hogwarts in the car, crashing into the Whomping Willow and damaging Ron's wand. The semi-sentient car ejects them and their belongings and disappears into the Forbidden Forest.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, released in the United States as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, is a 2001 fantasy/adventure film based on the novel of the same name by J.K. Rowling. Directed by Chris Columbus, it is the first in the popular Harry Potter films series. The story follows Harry Potter, a boy who, on his eleventh birthday, discovers that he is a wizard and who is then sent to Hogwarts — a school of magic — whereby he can complete his magical education.
The film stars Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, alongside Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as Harry's best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. The adult cast features Richard Harris, Maggie Smith, Robbie Coltrane, Alan Rickman and Ian Hart.
Warner Bros.bought the film rights to the book in 1999. Production began in 2000, with Columbus being chosen from a short list of directors to create the film. Rowling insisted that the entire cast be British, in keeping with the cultural integrity of the book and the film. Rowling also approved the screenplay, written by Steve Kloves. The film shot primarily at Leavesden Film Studios, as well as historic buildings around the country, and was released in the United Kingdom and the United States on November 16, 2001. Along with mostly positive critical reception, it made in excess of US$976 million at the worldwide box office and received three Academy Award nominations. The second, third, fourth, and fifth books have also been adapted into successful films, with the sixth and seventh confirmed.
